Aunt Betty's Infirmary Child Care

Mark Sullivan created, designed and constructed the first medical day care in Texas. Aunt Betty’s Infirmary was created to care for three populations of children; those suffering from infectious diseases, those recuperating from surgeries and also the long-term medically fragile child. The facility was designed with separate entrances and innovative infection control systems. Mark Sullivan drafted Texas State Legislation which allowed for insurance companies to provide coverage for ill child care. Mark created a voucher system for Austin’s Capital Metro Bus Company so their drivers can go to work when their children are sick.

The altruism, innovation and determination of Mark Sullivan creating Aunt Betty’s Infirmary Child Care brought Texas a new form of medical care for our sick children.
